Charles Abrams built the first "SwingFrame" in 1992 out of his home using readily available picture framing materials. His idea was to create a display frame that makes it easy to access the framed contents without the hassle of dismantling the picture frame. The result was a swing open, changeable, framing system that focused on displaying collectibles and memorabilia. It was time to test the market. Charlie, with his wife Barbara, started SwingFrame Inc. After sending press releases, charlie began receiving orders from buyers and custom frame shops throughout the country.
Soon after, it attracted the attention of the retail store visual merchandisers interested in changeable posters and signage SwingFrames. Larger frame sizes were designed, and purchase orders were coming in from small retail shops to national retailers. Charles and Barbara realized SwingFrame had unlimited design possibilities and buyers in other markets.
Now under the name Access Display Group, Inc., the company has grown to over 25 employees, a 10,000 sq. Ft. Manufacturing facility and five consecutive years of ranking on the Inc. 500/5000. The SwingFrame Advantage.
Timeline
In 1991 Mr. Abrams, after 25 years of being an advertising executive, read a New York Times article about an original 1941 Batman comic book that sold at Sotheby’s Auction House for $55,000. A sizeable investment that caused him to wonder: “The, exciting, colorful cover art is worth framing and enjoying. But once framed, how was one supposed to enjoy the beautiful art and story inside the comic book?” After checking with custom frame shops, no picture frame existed that could both display and easily access the prized comic once it was wall mounted. So he set out to build one.
